Lee would have made a great fit with the Toytronic collective—his use of intricate melodic beat juggling, drum/drill’n bass, acid tinges and downtempo rhythms are countered by fast-paced production values that are nothing short of blissful.
An uplifting electrical force-field that doesn’t let up
Bristol-based Lee (aka Lee Templeman) opens his first solo account with Concrete Collage after compilation appearances with Gablonkers, Calcul and Evel Records. With Alcyonian, we’re given full-blast and contemplative braindance selections that are nostalgic, forward-thinking, and bubbling with creative energy. Harking back to the early days of IDM-breaks from around mid/late 90s and early 00s, Lee would have made a great fit with the Toytronic collective—his use of intricate melodic beat juggling, drum/drill’n bass, acid tinges and downtempo rhythms are countered by fast-paced production values that are nothing short of blissful. Representing the raw simplicity of exp-electronic music and its complex foundations, Alcyonian is a breath of fresh air and exudes character. Reminiscent of early Toytronic artists like Ochre, Gimmik, and Multiplex, Lee traverses similar sonic terrain as he flashes back and forth 20-years with an uplifting electrical force-field that doesn’t let up. A 2020 highlight release in our catalog.
