Ki Oni & Luke Elliott :: A Brief Time in Four Divisions (Earth Works Outernational)

Discovery and intrigue are at the heart of these free flowing compositions; glints tucked away within hedgerows or a crack in the side of a rock.

Stunning, season-inspired, analog visuals

A Brief Time in Four Divisions is the debut release from overseas collaborators Ki Oni (Los Angeles) & Luke Elliott (Amsterdam). Released in the closing weeks of 2021 this deep listening experience encourages one to take mindfulness into consideration as most of us wind down from the end of an unpredictable year.

Taking inspiration from Vivaldi’s sonnets — The Four Seasons, Ki Oni and Luke Elliot delicately shift sonic environments in equal parts to present an honest representation of a year set in tones and natural sounds. These 15-minute excursions guide us through an array of secret gardens to hidden mazes and out on to high coastal paths. Discovery and intrigue are at the heart of these free flowing compositions; glints tucked away within hedgerows or a crack in the side of a rock as we venture through these intricate textural crafted weathers in worlds similarly known to us, but with a dash of cosmic all throughout.

Collaborating with designer and artist Roman Serra for the cover art, it depicts the four seasons from the perspective of rock, which like everything live and erode through the seasons.

Each piece is accompanied by stunning, season-inspired, analog visuals created by artist and sound designer Will Farina. Collaborating with Roman Serra, the images vividly connect with a durability that faces the elements.
