Inofaith :: Dawn Is Late EP (Shipwrec)

Keeping a lighthearted mood throughout, emotive Detroit-inspired waves crash upon the shores as swells of melody encompass a nostalgic awakening.

Inofaith

[Release page] Inofaith’s sound pallet for Shipwrec‘s latest 12″ is a syncopated wash of softened electro-techno that massages flickering pads and rhythmic simplicity in the vein of early DeFocus and Ann Aimee releases from a decade ago. Keeping a lighthearted mood throughout, emotive Detroit-inspired waves crash upon the shores as swells of melody encompass a nostalgic awakening. “Nocturne,” perhaps the most rewarding of the lot, contains an uplifting percussive pulse and its opening conversation about life, art, love, passion, and how idea’s are spawned from complete silence, slides this piece into “Little Fluffy Clouds” terrain. Elsewhere, as featured on “Girls Go To Bed Early,” a subtly rolling melody drives the chimes, beats and undercurrent through a mirage of tranquil escapes of time and space. As each of the four cuts slice through electronic music’s unruffled side, Inofaith’s use of synaptic beatwork and articulated strains of beauty easily parallel the works of The Detroit Escalator Company, +One, John Tejada (et al) without coming across as mere replicas. Let this slab of wax fall away from start to end as its twenty-six minutes of nebulous grooves unveil cyclic memories of the past.
