One song from each project here. The Gridlock track is extremely well-programmed and complex as we’ve come to expect, exhibiting the act’s gradual movement into IDM territory with the girth of the song consisting of flowing ambient soundscapes, but still staying true to their roots by ending their track with an all-out powerful noise assault. What a brilliant and infectious contrast. O2’s track is quite good as well, taking a more structured approach than Gridlock by maintaining much coherency and consistency through minimal beat loops and sparse synth movements. Very nice. After hearing “.0001” from this release and “.0002” from the md1 compilation on n5MD, I can only hope that Mike has a full-length O2 record in store for us in the near future. I highly recommend this 7″ teaser if you can get your hands on it.
