Esem (aka Georgi Marinov) maneuvers a new batch of emotive tracks, this time in a minimalist direction where electrical bits are crunched together with utter precision. “n-fold” delves into abstract glitch fissures, a fine-tuned melodic loop ebbs and flows as shuffling clicks and cuts shimmy their way through. Esem’s signature rhythmic flutter is in full-force on the cascading “NaN” where electro fragments slide across the landscape and low-end synaptic waves meander. “0w” takes “NaN” to the next plateau—its robust bass and tangled echoes run parallel to the EP’s unique tone. Bonus track “v l or” glides by gracefully, its calm drift and subtle build-up is blissful and magnetic. On the heavier electronic realm, “1” manifests a darker shadow compared to its siblings. Shifting into a pseudo-Berlin techno school, Esem refines and slices “1” into a moving acidic groove. “lt_ft” gradually expands and contracts via bursting beats, bass, and further acidic squabble—its electroacoustic shape is a Subotnick-like creature.
