On this latest release, the journey is one of the stars mapped by the classic sounds of electro. Infinite Balance achieved through the audio dreamers of the mechanics of the beyond.
An electro resident of considerable standing
Leipzig continues to punch well above its diminutive weight. The East German city has a fecund music scene with homegrown artists and local labels showcasing what their town can do. Inch By Inch is a distribution, store and imprint established by Drunkenstein. For their latest release, an electro resident of considerable standing has been called upon.
2020 saw the last 12” from Eosim, Collapse Yourself on Pulse Drift Records. Infinite Balance brings together five tracks that explore cold machine sounds while plumbing richer depths. The sci-fi atmospherics of “Rise Up” gives way to the frigid funk of “Direct Drive” where distant melodies float above shivering synth stabs. The gentle ebbs and flows of “Empty Bodies” follow. Bobbing notes and aquatic undercurrents are kept in check with a clean percussive line as samples orbit. “Balance of Error” takes a different route, stretched lines and thick, muddy basslines being at the core of this ephemeral piece. A space motif runs throughout the EP. It is a focal point in the bleeps and echoes of “Infinite Games,” satellite pings and understated harmonies coalescing in this elegant composition. The finale comes with “Relapsing Cycles.” A cooler tone enters. Keys are once again distant; they sail above sharp snares and watery rinses to bring the 12” to a close.
It’s a treat to see the return of Eoism, even better to hear said return. On this latest release, the journey is one of the stars mapped by the classic sounds of electro. Infinite Balance achieved through the audio dreamers of the mechanics of the beyond.
