Dez Williams :: Seeing Stars — Fleck E.S.C. :: Responsible Grown Up Remixes (Woodwork)

Dez Williams’ Seeing Stars continues to unravel a myriad of robust, emotional, and focused electronics as Fleck E.S.C. invites ADJ, Kim Cosmik, UnSonore and Pablo Splice to re-envision Responsible Grown Up tracks, shedding light on exploratory electro edges while reshaping the genre for the next generation.

Shedding light on exploratory electro, while reshaping the genre

Dez Williams’ Seeing Stars for Woodwork Recordings sees the talented UK-based artist continue to unravel a myriad of robust, emotional, and focused electronics. The overflowing and magnetic rhythms on these half dozen tracks are as fragile as they come—the title track is perhaps the highlight of the lot with its fuzzy and shimmering melodic tendencies. Elsewhere you’ll find acid sludge and rugged techno slabs unearthed on tracks like “Gupi” and the hardened edges of “Jacid.” Williams opens further electro delicacies on “Tolerant” where shuffled bass and garage beats slither around vocal extracts. Seeing Stars, ultimately, is a visceral foray through the outer realms of glitch, acid and raw electro-techno. “Tales of the Infected” displays Williams’ knack for old-school machine music as “Rewire The Human” is unadulterated breaks, bass, and ravaged post-rave grooves. Another impacting release from this multi-talented sonic sculptor.

Fleck E S.C. delivers a set of remixes from his Responsible Grown Up extended player released earlier this year as ADJ, Kim Cosmik, UnSonore, and Pablo Splice render the originals. The result is four tracks of next-level reformed electro. ADJ takes “Substitute Placebo” to the upper atmosphere with hypnotic breaks and futuristic sound swirls as Kim Cosmik’s “Grassland” remix sheds raw percussive energy—meandering bass and tangled Aphex Twin twists evaporate through its ultra-charged layers. UnSonore shifts the title track into pixelated data chunks as classic breaks bend and break into clustered soundscapes. Pablo Splice’s “fanboy revision” of “That’s It” is the quintessential peak of the EP—corrosive beatwork, swirling ambient turbulence, and fidgety breakbeats glide through sliced vocal samples as its dystopian and hypnotic synths snap, shift, and sizzle from start to finish. A powerful remix collection shedding light on exploratory electro edges while reshaping the genre for the next generation.
