Electro intoxication

D.Vices is back on Woodwork with an EP of solid electro and expanding the style of his futuristic music. My first listen to the opening title track jolted me into a stunned silence. Don’t be fooled by the initial slow rhythm; a stabbing and merciless beat follows, which I describe as electro intoxication and appeals to the bass heads.

Next is “Heart Attack,” which never has a dull moment and has a razor-sharp vibe while gaining momentum. It’s safe to say that this track has excellent cohesion and a high level of tightness. My anticipation for what comes after this has been amped up to a higher level.

“Ghosts” is very busy, but busy in terms of experimental groove. Between each turnaround, there is a pause that builds up to a consistent beat pattern with a haunting haze of synths. “Ghosts” is a highly busy track, but it’s busy in terms of exploration. There is a pause between each turnaround that builds up to a steady percussive rhythm with a hauntingly hazy cloud of synth-lines. The attack of volatile beats stands out and never lets up.

In my opinion, “Ghosts,” remixed by LectrO COd E, is the encore of this EP, and it is incredibly appealing in that it conjures the impulse to straight up jam out and dance. This track will be played on repeat for this listener. There’s a hypnotic element because the groove is so bold that it makes sense to surrender to its innovative sound.
