Cyd :: Haute Couture (Subsist & Faith Disciplines)

Cyd encompasses a wide-ranging musical style that ebbs and flows into abstract and delicate forms to more abrupt bass-infused IDM morsels.

Intoxicating soundtrack flows

A mesmerizing sonic swirl of ambient dust and ethereal voices glide by on the opening piece “Promise”—setting the stage for Cyd’s Haute Couture album on Subsist & Faith Disciplines. WIth twenty tracks, it can be a daunting task to let each piece take over your environment, and it’s worth it. Delicately balanced electronica and atmospheric notes flutter about on each track, “Leaving the Scars Behind” and “Betrayal” are only a couple slices of life that venture into unknown sound worlds only to take us by surprise. Subtle synth notes and shuffling drum patterns persist on the uplifting “Inmense Resource” [sic] to slower-paced yet intoxicating soundtrack flows such as “Untitled37” and “Subsequent Directions.” Cyd encompasses a wide-ranging musical style that ebbs and flows into abstract and delicate forms to more abrupt bass-infused IDM morsels (“Old Arrrangement” [sic] and “How to Deal with Nostalgia.”) An album that could have been split into three focused extended players, Cyd lays it all out on the line in one fell swoop and doesn’t hold back; creating exclusive custom-fitted, high-end audio designs constructed by hand (or close to it) from start-to-finish. Bliss and its best.
