Colin Muir :: Interminstrel (Concrete Collage)

Calm analog flutter tugs at the heartstrings as Colin Muir sculpts a myriad of classic experimental electronic musings.

Distressed yet evolving acid notes and relaxed braindance elements ebb and flow

Concrete Collage welcomes Colin Muir to their roster as Interminstrel elicits a pleasant electronic transmission. Here we find all manner of distressed yet evolving acid notes and relaxed braindance elements ebb and flow—often burred in melancholy like “Backdoor Behringer.” The title track takes us down memory lane, raw analog machines pulse with old-school low-flying electro leanings (think Lowfish and Solvent)—a nostalgic spark that shouldn’t be missed.

As the album progresses, Colin Muir dips into abstract, almost translucent electronica—disjointed bits and pieces fall into place on the bouncy “Febnuary” as “Goodbye Another Unit (mello mix)” transmits melodic gestures and robotic glitches taking us to IDM’s early years.

Calm analog flutter tugs at the heartstrings as Colin Muir sculpts a myriad of classic experimental electronic musings. In all, Interminstrel contains more than enough variation and creativity to compliment the Lyon, France-based imprints catalog of articulated, and very often explosive, rhythmic structures.
