Cloak of Kings :: Flora Quest (Self Released)

As each title suggests, you are walking through various moments within character development and progressing through the storytelling that is put a forth in this quest to protect the flora from being farmed by evil capitalists.

An interwoven experience to digest on many levels

Rachel King (aka Cloak of Kings) brings an inspired concept to life with their narrative based Flora Quest, an imaginary video game where she has not just composed the music for, but accompanying it comes a fully illustrated comic that unfolds the tale of this arc. An interwoven experience to digest on many levels. As each title suggests, you are walking through various moments within character development and progressing through the storytelling that is put a forth in this quest to protect the flora from being farmed by evil capitalists.

Musically this feels just like an RPG soundtrack, moments of intrigue stacked against foreboding thoughts as you know soon you must be brave. There are cautious preludes as you gain closer to danger and ultimately relief when you manage to clear the stage. Alone you can be transported with these sonic adventures. Tying together with the illustrations brings a real depth to this concept though and showcases Cloak of Kings inventive approach to storytelling in both audio and visual form.

Flora Quest, feels authentic mainly because of its execution. Each title, graphic and direction is meticulously thought out and lands on it’s feet with every step—would love to see this develop into a full series!

“You can watch a video version of the comic and accompanying soundtrack on YouTube (below). Each track represents a different part of the story. The comic contains a guide on how to listen as you turn the page, so buy both the album and the comic for the best experience!” ~ Cloak of Kings.

Flora Quest is available on Bandcamp.
