Ethno-ritualistic entrancing patterns
Loyal to the brooding, foreboding and utterly somber if not mystical thematic usually brought to the fore by canonical dark ambient music, this new joint effort makes no exception with subterranean soundscaping pieces dedicated to the antique Mesopotamian Lamaštu figure. Honoring the mythological pantheon of demonic entities of ancient middle oriental civilization, the two sound artists gathered for the occasion and summoned dark introspective spells; neo-shamanic dirges and grandiloquent cinematic immersions. Those who are familiar with the musical belonging of NERATERRÆ won’t be disconcerted as it admits a logical continuity to previous opus (Scenes From the Sublime, released on Cyclic Law in 2020) with more emphasis on ethno-ritualistic entrancing patterns meticulously designed and processed. The architectural characteristics of these chilling dronescapes of fuzz and bleak bass frequencies are met with liturgical choral samples and occasional rhythmical tribal pulses. The result is of good quality, reminiscent of Paleowolf, Sephiroth et al, and quite recommended for an unsettling escape in eastern mythological-fantastic readings from Henri Rider Haggard.
