In No Memory is calming, haunting, and ethereal, its deep undertones of dark ambient and industrial threads weaving a hypnotic atmosphere.

There’s an uncanny energy stirring within, something that drifts more into the cinematic scope of abstract electronic soundtracks. In No Memory feels like a traverse through the echoes of forgotten eras, a transition through rhythmic sound-scraping data fields colliding with instrumental layers, full of texture and nuance. In No Memory is calming, haunting, and ethereal, its deep undertones of dark ambient and industrial threads weaving a hypnotic atmosphere.

This debut with EC Underground by Marcus Moonen—a southeastern Netherlands native, multifaceted artist, photographer, writer, musician, and filmmaker whose creative path spans scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, and editing, each discipline enriching the other in a seamless fusion of vision and craft—presents a compelling collection; six tracks that stretch the length of a full album; each one marking its own emotional and sonic territory.

From the opening track, “Next Time The Sun,” the low-end thumps seem to originate from the very depths of Earth’s crust, grounding us in a primal sense of anticipation. “Something Is Wrong” channels darker energies through pseudo-tribal melodies, while “The Futility Of Existing (A Timeline)” transports us through vintage electronic escapes, drawing our attention away from the present and guiding us through times long past. In turn,

In No Memory becomes a philosophical companion, questioning our very existence, while the grittier industrial-IDM shuffle’n shift of “No Choice” propels us even deeper into this drifting labyrinth that CausaliDox has expertly designed. An album of immense significance and clarity, and without a doubt, rests comfortably in our Best of 2025—a work that truly merits repeated listenings to fully sink in.

The evolution of EC Underground from the pulsing currents of eclectic electro and electro-nics into the shadowy terrain of downtempo, contemplative dark ambient, and cinematic soundscapes marks more than a stylistic turn—it reaffirms their mission to remain perpetually ahead of the curve, always moving in silence just below the surface, where the future of sound quietly begins to transform.
