Although you might not have come across Ca$hminus in your music diving, there’s a good chance you’ve probably come across the two members of this group. Tristan Jong is the cofounder of Ensemble, a well rounded house aficionado as Icarus Traxx as well as DJ’ing as Gratts. Eluize runs Night Tide and enjoys the enviable title of releasing the first album on Glasgow’s superb Craigie Knowes. Featuring on a split release on Bordello A Parigi in 2017, this diverse duo are releasing their first vinyl release on their own label.
Cascading notes are punctuated by playful pads as a steady snare keeps time in the opening “Atlandwehr.” The track has certain unsettling element to it, ghosting notes stalking the thrust and parry of the underlying groove. This undercurrent of unease is accentuated in the grinding rhythms and spiking melody of “La Foire” before it scurries back into the darkness with the bright tones and deeper moods of “De Vlaskmarkt.” The title track occupies the flip, hoarding the whole of the B-side with three mixes. Adopting a slow and purposeful tempo, acid scorn is mixed with new beat as vocals care of Cora spin a temptress’ tale next throaty vocoder bursts. Hard Fist boss Cornelius Doctor extends the original as he further accents the bitter boil of the 303 to further plumb the depths the track Belgian warehouse roots. For those just after vocals the ephemeral Corapella finishes for the sample minded.
