Nine tracks that ravage, ricochet, and syncopate their way through, Impendulo delivers high-level, machine-driven tectonic sound, and subtle melodic twists.
Impendulo follows up from 2012’s Retro Action (Bedroom Research) which was described as “a collision between industrial, noise, dub and electro migrating around definitive analog rhythms.” This new title has a resemblance to Jack Dangers’ (of Meat Beat Manifesto) explosive electronic style—especially evident on the 2004 album Loudness Clarifies (Important) where a wicked display of hard-punching electro, breaks, funk, bass, synths, industrial and subliminal noises scatter about.
Low-end bass, distortion, and signature squelches register high on the richer scale with C_C’s dedicated workmanship. France-based Eduardo Ribuyo (clearly) has a skill for exploring robust, rugged, and mind-bending electronic mayhem and Impendulo leads the way with its sonic smorgasbord that whips the ears and feet into motion. Nine tracks that ravage, ricochet, and syncopate their way through, Impendulo delivers high-level, machine-driven tectonic sound, and subtle melodic twists. While paying homage to the underdogs of the modular scene, here we have an audible maelstrom that doesn’t let down—chaotic organization at its best.
