Progenitor’s of the early 00’s melodic ambient-electronic arena, Boulderdash hone in on their sense of rhythm and tone as Pro Time Killers provides a great snapshot of their multifaceted skills. Refined, chilled music for armchair listening and highly recommended.
Intended for release on US-based Acre Records, Pro Time Killers by Swedish producers Hans Möller and Daniel Skaborn decided to (finally) unveil this musical 12-pack digitally. We Never Went To Koxut Island (Artelier, 2000) was an IDM staple back in the day and brought the diverse duo worldwide acclaim until things went silent.
Pro Time Killers is an accomplished and wide ranging scope of work traversing far-reaching sonic terrain. Encompassing melodic-infused dub-techno strands (“Three Hours and No Ferry”) to downtempo breaks (“A Great Combination” and “Talking to Harry”) to bass-driven broken beats (“Dave’s Place”) to a more docile electronic environment (“Maggie’s Showers”) and relaxed ambient-abstract treatments (“Timekiller” and “Propeganda Car”)—Boulderdash have not lost their signature sound. The opening track (“Taxi Wallas”) sums the entire package with its smorgasbord of the above-mentioned genre-lines as they zig-zag across an addictive synth swirl looping in a seamless blur.
