This album is clearly aquatic themed and the artistry and beats explain that fully. My suggestion—turn on some blue lights, put on your best headphones and/or speakers and sink into the depths, you won’t be sorry.
Turn on some blue lights
I am by no means an expert on Bluetech, I discovered them when the Portals compilation was released and I was immediately hooked. Holotrope is a masterpiece. Underwater Cities—just as stunning.
The first track “Submerge” feels like I’m diving into the ocean with my dive suit on, completely relaxing—it truly submerges you into the world Bluetech is about to take your through. The title track is my absolute favorite, please turn up your bass and listen to the underwater aliens sing in this electronic treasure trove of 808 beats. The third track “Lights From Mariana” takes us past the aliens and deeper into Bluetech’s vision—a happy beat will guide you down like the Mariana trench. In real life this track shines the light in an otherwise dark world. “Emerald Prisms” finds you at the bottom of the ocean exploring, twisting and winding through strange sea life and things you have never seen before all while sitting on your couch. The “Lights From Mariana” remix takes the track to another level—just add some mushrooms to the cocktail and you will know what I mean—Pleasure Corporation did a fantastic job. “Surface Radiance” takes you back on land mesmerized by what you have seen—a short closing track to finish your voyage.
This album is clearly aquatic themed and the artistry and beats explain that fully. My suggestion—turn on some blue lights, put on your best headphones and/or speakers and sink into the depths, you won’t be sorry.
