Bloodygrave & die Lust! 'Untitled'

[Shop] Kernkrach have unearthed a new synth pop artist, Bloodygrave & die Lust! This newcomer been given the 7” treatment to open their account on the sublabel Hertz-Schrittmacher. So what has this latest outing got to offer?

The blood red vinyl opens with “S.O.S.” Heavily vocodered lyrics auf deutsch lead into a toe tapping piece of synth pop. A steady beat runs over a C64 style melody as no nonsense lyrics are layered across to produce an excellent opener. “Chlorleichen” comes from much darker territory. The care free sounds of “S.O.S.” are eclipsed by moody and sinister notes. The track has more of an electro note than synth pop, reminiscent of some of the early Invasion Planete and Le Syndicat Electronique material. The tempo is raised for the flipside with “Rattengift” speeding in. The track has a feel of Martial Canterel to it, the fast clean snares, the somber vocals and the vintage analogue runs. There’s a serious D.I.Y. quality to the track, and even a note of punk thrown in for good measure. “Minimalrei” is the most insular of the quartet, with a solitary drum roll being the center of this lonesome work. Definitely the most experimental of the 7”.

Whereas a lot of labels focus on re-issuing 80’s synth wave, Kernkrach have always had more of an eye on contemporary synth music. Bloodygrave & die Lust! is fast paced, and pure analogue. The tracks have energy, tapered by the lethargy of the vocals. Across a mere four tracks this debut artist has managed to explore a decent range of sounds and styles. The record even comes with a glove, if that can be topped. Definitely worth giving this crowd a full 12 inches of vinyl, and I’m well aware of the innuendos in that statement.

This release is out now on Kernkrach. [Shop]
