Benjamin Finger, once again, lays it all out in a creative smorgasbord of organized chaotic sound.
Benjamin Finger etches out his latest album 10—a 10-track release for Sellout! Music and he appears to have even more ideas than ever before. Blasting straight into opener “Freefloater,” a dense electrical collage displays noisier modular tones and a broken-techno backbone. In other luminous corridors, one can find interconnected bleeps and odd formations evolving on “Party Corpse” which happens to also be featured on the previously-reviewed 9-5 EP.
Much like what Flatland Sound Studio have been producing (click here for review), busted up rhythms and turbulent breaks unfold on “Drunkstore Wodka,” a disturbed digitized beast that doesn’t let up. But it’s not all abstract pulsars here, “Planet Vunder Baum” displays a more coherent minimal techno flare, its crisp highs and Berlin infected echoes would ultimately sound best in a large venue with large bass bins and wooden floor boards. 10 explores a wide-ranging kaleidoscope, from the gravity-torn industrial sheets featured on “Stretchpantz” and “Jiva Ass Screamers,” to the erratic, ambient sound scrapes of “Ibitchian Raper,” Benjamin Finger, once again, lays it all out in a creative smorgasbord of organized chaotic sound.
10 is available on Sellout! Music.
