Rockin’ Pony is an electronic project creating Easy Listening/IDM music with jazz elements and some classical influences. It appears to be quite an unusual band since all the Rockin’ Pony tracks consist of a number of musical pieces, having a lot of rhythm and style changes. Every composition has got a funny story line behind it, born and visualized in the minds of its creators.
The band consists of two members: Michael Drumz and Alexander (Sasha) Rozet who founded the project in summer 1998. Apart from being engaged in Rockin’ Pony, Michael plays live music performances with several professional orchestras as a freelance percussionist; he is also involved with other independent musical projects. Sasha has more of an electronic background, interested in sampling and performing as a DJ from time to time.
Rockin’ Pony is originally from Israel, but today the project is based both in Israel and the UK. Their first release was in March 2000: El Carnaval De Los Caballos featured on a downtempo compilation by a Canadian label Tarmedia Productions. This promotional 7″ pink vinyl includes 2 tracks: “Tibet_01” and “Lullaby”. Also Michael and Sasha are planning on giving some live performances in Belgium and the UK this spring and releasing a 12″ EP later this year.
