Moogfest 2016 :: May 19-22 (Durham, NC)

Moogfest, named after synth pioneer Dr. Robert Moog and now a biennial event, is poised to prove its well-earned reputation as the US music festival with the deepest and most interesting programming. Delivering much more than just performances, Moogfest is also a full-fledged technology conference, with dozens of panels and talks covering topics like instrument design philosophy, artificial intelligence, and the future of creativity. Workshops, sound installations, film screenings, and a modular marketplace will once again fill the schedule. As part of the festival’s expansion, it has moved from the smaller city of Asheville to Durham, home to a larger number of venues, academic partners, and research triangle tech innovators.

A diverse selection of musical genres will be represented, with performances by Gary Numan, Laurie Anderson, The Orb, sunn o))), GZA, Laurel Halo, Silver Apples, Oneohtrix Point Never, Ben Frost, Alessandro Cortini, Morton Subotnick, ODESZA, Suzanne Ciani, Tim Hecker, Jlin, Grimes, Miike Snow, Explosions in the Sky, and more than 60 additional acts.

Igloo Magazine’s Thomas Fang offers a post-festival visual archive!
