Death Grips have moved further away from the Hip Hop world and are now sailing uncharted waters of abstract form far from the mainland they cast off from.
The new album by Death Grips is out as a free digital download from thirdworlds.net preceding a double album The Powers That Be later in the year on Third World Records. The Icelandic enigma Björk appears on all the tracks, though you’d be hard pressed to recognize the fact.
Death Grips have always been very much on the edge of the Hip Hop world, incorporating glitch, industrial, grindcore, punk, and other influences in their output. They’ve been interesting, weird and good since the first material emerged on their Ex Military mixtape. This though, is some next level stuff. They have moved further away from the Hip Hop world and are now sailing uncharted waters of abstract form far from the mainland they cast off from.
