Berkeley beat broker Odd Nosdam’s Sisters just dropped, prompting Boards of Canada to post a remix of the title track (below). The Odd Couple and Odd ‘dam have exchanged before, he with a rework of their “Dayvan Cowboy,” they with a rethink of his then project cLOUDDEAD‘s “Dead Dogs Two.”
Sisters sees the Anticon co-founder, long-esteemed in underground beats circles, scoping a vein of reflective ‘scapes with glo-fi post-hop, tweaked textures and sun-blind samples. He waxes thus on the title’s provenance: ‘when the sun finally breaks through on an overcast day, Sisters was very much inspired by that wonderful moment… and the longing for it.’ On a similar sun-blind tip is a clip (below) of “Burrow,” a mix of psycho-active electronics and rhythmic ruffage those in the Nosdam know will love (note a collab with fellow post-hiphop Odd-ball, Teebs too!)
Sisters is available on Leaving Records—for added analog value, on vinyl and ltd. ed. VHS via Stones Throw.
