(05.03.05) Los Angeles :: Kick off summer in Los Angeles at the LA Art Fest, a community arts festival scheduled June 3-5, 2005, in the Downtown Arts District. This spectacular art event was conceived by longtime Gallerist Julie Rico, who says, “this festival will galvanize the energy of the art community and bring out thousands of people down to center of the city, creating a very positive energy force for the art community and the many cultures of LA.”

An authentic indoor/outdoor art festival in Downtown Los Angeles ::

The first annual LA Art Fest Downtown Arts Festival will feature artists, exhibitions and performances in a celebration of the arts in the Arts District in Los Angeles.

Joining us from San Francisco are the Hybrid Processional Orchestra and Chant Ensemble and One People’s Voice, a fusion of Gamelan and Kecak music with modern instruments. In addition, there will be a long list of other amazing art elements, such as, Brian Tortora, exhibiting in the giant lot, the “Platonic Cube” a musical, interactive kinetic sculpture and Claudia de la Cruz and Tierra Flamenca, a school for Flamenco Dance to help low-income children, showcasing their many talents.

The Festival is located next to the Southern California Institute of Architecture (Sci-Arc) near 3rd and Traction. Visitors are encouraged to “Go Metro” to the LA Art Fest. Trip planning for the festival easily can be done online through Metro.net or by calling 1-800-COMMUTE. Metro is one of the many community partners of this year’s festival.
