Teeming with organic and lo-fi crunchy electronic strains
If the Bleep Mix #188 wasn’t enough to whet your appetite, now’s the time to pick up the latest trilogy spanning nearly 2-hrs of abstract and arcane electronics. Luke Williams’ latest Mantle Of Gets‘ moniker—previously operating as Quinoline Yellow, Tatamax, and Tap Throw for labels like Skam, Touchin’ Bass, and Modified Magic)—has just been revealed.
Mantle Of Gets oscillates through lower trajectories of off-kilter and tranquilized mechanical noodling from outer space, its backbone made from detuned ambient glitch bits that drift and fade making for a creative audible smorgasbord. Take “PLAA03.BA23.676500.sG” from Puffing like an Adder as a prime example, its drone-scraping debris ebbs and flows to carefully reveal its organic and exploratory nature. And it’s not all lulling drones on these releases either. Sba Per dips into tangled industrial shards as evidenced on the shape-shifting fizz-fuzz fluctuations of “SP02.AH48.269764.sG.” Then comes Vanity Board and its manipulated yet blissful blips and bleeps. Williams manages to keep layers upon layers of textural grit from escaping the confines of his machines. The turbulent rhythmic bubbles of “VB03.AD58.841169.sG” seemingly come to life with an uncanny ability to keep our ears peeled as it blurs the lines between ambient and glitched-out nostalgia.
The underlying scope of these three sculpted entities is that of undulating atmospheric electronic shifts in time and space. Taking decayed electrical elements to a whole other level, the relaxed flurry of these sixteen tracks (in total) are an escape from reality, an escape from the confines we’ve found ourselves in, and an entry into leftfield sonic dimensions we’ve yet to traverse. Sba Per, Puffing like an Adder, and Vanity Board are perhaps best absorbed in one fell swoop, teeming with organic and lo-fi crunchy electronic strains, Mantle Of Gets tethers three extended players for an intricate kneading of the senses.
