Casino Versus Japan reveals Frozen Geometry

Ambient electronica legend Casino Versus Japan unveils a first full-length in over half a decade, Erik Kowalski announcing Frozen Geometry, a self-released double cassette.

Casino Versus Japan’s work remains immaculate in conception—just that it’s issued at intervals suggesting that it floats free from conventional notions such as ‘release schedule’: previous Night On Tape (Attacknine) album came out in 2010, eight years after the classic Whole Numbers Play The Basics (Carpark). So it might be said that Frozen Geometry makes up for lost time, comprising as it does 80—that’s 8 (eight) 0 (oh)—of altered state guitar loopism. Product of years of sketching new textures on guitar, which were layered and looped into immersive capsules of harmony and drift,’ originally intended for use as melodic foundations for future compositions, we’re told, however, that ‘he became aware of them existing on their own.’ (my bold!) A somewhat unsettling notion, if you’re minded to dwell on it; or you could just hold the Ontology 101 and go with it, especially with the promise of An intriguing opus of hypnotic beauty and peripheral consciousness’ (blurb).

Frozen Geometry is due out October 21 – pre-order via bandcamp.
