Always one to fuse scorched melodies with glitched electro-automation, C.H. District uses his tools with extreme precision, somehow camouflaging chaos with order.
[US info page] Carved robo-industrial experiments gravitate around classic structures; Conclusion highlights the past and forges straight ahead and is a follow-up to the rhythmic acrobatics of Slides (2005). This is where time becomes a loop; a solid danceable groove is expelled with just the right amount of esoteric audio slicing as punctuated beats are administered with fury and calm.
Mirosław Matyasik’s careful balance between aggressive and tempered beats drives through an unlit tunnel layered with metallic tiles, a style (and visual appeal) he has maintained and sharpened for the past decade. Always one to fuse scorched melodies with glitched electro-automation, C.H. District uses his tools with extreme precision, somehow camouflaging chaos with order. It’s the moments of clarity on Conclusion, even with the tension of rhythmic deconstruction, that manages to keep pace with the onslaught of similar sounding cohorts. But don’t let this deter you from the listening experience, C.H. District’s lasting style doesn’t age and Conclusion will easily appeal to fans of next-gen electronics, flashing back and forth in time. One does have to wonder if the title of this release signifies some kind of closing chapter for the artist. Let’s hope it’s just the beginning of something even more evolved, or perhaps a shift in what’s to come. Either way, it should be enlightening.
