Fizzarum :: Live 14 (Sealt)

Live 14 delivers ambiguous sonic terrain, ambient hues, segmented experimental analog noise and just a few hints of downtempo melodic flare.

There are definite sparks flying around Live 14 from Fizzarum‘s Dmitry Dubov, Albert Rasyulis and Dmitry Letahovskiy. While one might have expected more of an evolved glitchy punch, moving forward from their classic Russian electronic sounds, Live 14 is a pitter-patter hum compared to much earlier works on City Centre Offices and Domino. The live aspect is reflected in the recordings as leftfield broken bits and bites collide, contort and collapse into developing sequences. “Kinetic” contains a dribbling percussive Boards of Canada flare while “Elaps” moves about with cinematic clanging glitches as “Resonator” glides across a tribal and elongated modular beat and fluttering tone.

As if listening to Fizzarum live on stage, Live 14 delivers ambiguous sonic terrain, ambient hues, segmented experimental analog noise and just a few hints of downtempo melodic spheres. It’s good to hear Fizzarum back in form, ricocheting forth a plasma-induced buzz—a sound that will hopefully yield more in the not so distant future.

Live 14 is available on Sealt.
