Anodyne :: 4 Empires EP (& Remixes) Combat

Further fierce dance floor manipulations from Anodyne on Combat Recordings alongside a hefty roster of remixers from the likes of Plaid, Dead Fader, DeFeKt and Subjex.

[Release page] Taking cues from the original Empires EP back in 2011, both these releases showcase a widely diverse range of production styles across both vinyl and digital releases. The vinyl finds original version of “Empire of Dust” deploying sleek techy stabs against dynamic electro and moody pads whilst ‘Subjex’ deliver a brutalist stepping work out on “Empire of Light” complete with surprise flip into proper firing beat territory—beastly! Plaid supply a remix for “Empire of Glass” that is typical of their sound—all funky 303 wobble and deliciously intricate off kilter twisted melodics. Dead Fader inhabit more subdued terrain with a pensively moody version of “Empire of Light” that drops into sublimely woozy yet oddly uplifting mid track sound.

Further remixes are found on the digital release with a gorgeously subdued electro workout from 214 whilst DeFeKt through down deep Detroit musings across a tight 808 beat. Boris Noiz introduce glassy pads before industrial strength Thor like thumps announce an explosively original sub and break bass bin destroyer. And if that’s not enough, Devilman distorts and twists “Empire of Glass” into a post apocalyptic futuristic soundscape.

A highly recommended collection of leftfield heavy duty electronics.
