Superior powerhouse Pulse State stay on course with Time Vortex, the latest from Calx. Eight tracks, direct and unfussy, tracing acid pathways through measured 4/4 and electro-leaning breaks. The 303 lines are present but disciplined; pads glow softly at the edges. There’s a trace of the ’90/’91 turn — a distant Give Peace a Dance sensibility — though the execution is crisp and contemporary rather than referential.

“Galaxy Dub” opens in spacious dub mode, chords hanging in negative space over a steady, unhurried pulse. It sets the tone without overstating it. “Pyroseptic” narrows the frame with clipped electro drums and a taut, elastic bassline, the acid line adding texture rather than dominating. “Quartz of Quartz” shifts into digi breakbeat territory, its skittering rhythm anchored by a clear melodic figure that keeps it functional.

Midway, “Receiver” introduces a subtle change in emphasis.
