Eighteen tracks and four bonus pieces are featured on ErrorBalm Vol.2 resulting in a combination of relaxed abstracts and tumbling electrical data streams that can feel overwhelming. With two volumes already published in 2024, we’re curious to see how much material the multi-talented musician has in his back pocket!
A steady trajectory of diffused electronics
Head-honcho James Batista (also known as Enabl.ed) leads the glitch-IDM pack in yet another round of subtle experimental rhythms and melodic tropes that occupy the periphery of soundtrack and video game dynamics. Clean Error, the label maintaining a steady trajectory of diffused electronics, doesn’t hold back on Vol.2. Cultivating ambient-electronic worlds, disintegrated and reflective corridors are traversed where artists like Arovane, Brothomstates, Christian Kleine, Proem, Autechre, Phonem, and Frank Bretschneider are brought to the fore in an IDM symphony of sound. The sonic assemblage etches its way through hazy, nostalgic memories as Enable.ed reimagines those classic, inventive, quirky, and crunchy moments in time.

With two volumes already published in 2024, we’re curious to see how much material the multi-talented musician has in his back pocket! Reading the liner notes further, it appears that Vol.3 is already in the works for 2025. So, will the accumulation of ErrorBalm volumes begin to bow the proverbial shelves under its own shear-weight? One can only wait and see. In the meantime, Vol.2 is yet another perplexing and futuristic traverse of solid braindance acrobatics.
Standouts this time around include “Battling Cylobs under a Cylobian Sunset,” “Forgotten Days,” “Where reality dissolves,”N/Phase Interlaced ,”Nautilithic ,” “Legacyɹoɹɹǝ v5.5.7,” “destroy.shrug (Bonus),” and “Error-dynamic (Bonus).”
Console.Error(“Detected errors in tracks 3, 7, 13. Will be addressed in the next patch cycle (Vol. 3).”)
Console.Log(“Vol. 2 integrates 7 years of IDM experimentation, channeling errors and Braindance motifs into glitch-driven sequences and melodies. Legacy continues.”)
