The EP hits hard with powerful rhythms and saturated melodic bursts, accompanied by roughened 808 sequences and atypical breaks and bass layers.

With an old-school electro-IDM six-track foray and a blistered braindance construction, mmWave (aka Tokyo-based MillimeterWave) unexpectedly shows up at our (inbox) door step. The EP hits hard with powerful rhythms and saturated melodic bursts, accompanied by roughened 808 sequences and atypical breaks and bass layers. The propelling go-to tracks “Anoixi” and “Pressing Matters” blend everything together, including synth and shuffled jungle moments. Meanwhile, “Synthemesc,” “VSI SPX,” and “Temporal Autocruise” feature acidic bleep techno forms, while mmWave finds a strong groove from front to back. A perfect conclusion to this otherwise flawless extended player, “Bubblebreaks” strikes a balance between Luke Vibert and Velum Break’s sleek melodic downtempo electro-nic sheen.
