(02.10.05) In just a couple of months the infamous Venetian Snares tossed up two absolute stormers that will make you dance like you’re going mental. Quite different stuff from what you’ve heard from the man in recent times, if you like the emotional side of VSnares you could be disappointed to hear such a merciless sonic assault. The tracks on Infolepsy range from funky breaks to breakcore jungle madness, while those on Winnipeg… kick in with straight gabber.

Infolepsy, released on Coredump, starts with the funny “Twelve,” much in the vein of the Addict 7″s, and then comes the big tune, “Where’s Bill?,” a gabber / jungle hybrid featuring The Bride’s very own voice. You get a lightspeed breakcore monster with the sublime addition of a cult movie sampling; what else could you ask for? In case you wanted more, there’s plenty: another funky rollin’ amen tune, “Absolute Smakatrosmic,” and two hardcore smashers are featured on this EP. “Americanized” is even more angry and fast than “Where’s Bill?” and the 2K4 version of “Punishing The Atoms” adds some nice schizoid MC’ing to the fury of beats.

Winnipeg Is A Frozen Shithole is like an extension of the “Bee In Bunnyhead” track released on Death$ucker, something akin to Hellfish and Producer, there are 5 tunes of pure gabberoid rawness, mixed with junglist breaks, screeching acid, analog basslines, obviously based on odd time signatures, so you can’t mix it with the other plain gabba. Well, maybe C64 or Baseck will do some wicked mixes with those tracks, but I was talking about human DJ’s. You’ll also find an ambient track based on voices saying “Winnipeg,” a powernoise storm that could challenge with some Kevin Drumm productions, a nice breakcore remix courtesy of the newcomer Not Half and a bouncy swingy affair reworked by veteran Fanny. 2 Fast, 2 Furious! Both the Infolepsy EP and Winnipeg Is A Frozen Shithole are out now on Coredump and Sublight Records (respectively).
