Kreidler :: Tank (Bureau B)

Kreidler 'Tank'

Legendary group Kreidler were formed in Dusseldorf in 1994. This North American exclusive 2011 release entitled Tank, is presented via the Beaurau B label, offering up a collection of innovative instrumentals that are set down mainly in repetitive circles of dark embellishments and strong anchored beats. Its earthy wooded areas are met with shiny melodic twinkle, driving rhythm, and small droplets from the heavens. Simple and direct in structure, it shows off a perfect framework on which to add the emotional and expressive.

“New Earth” could be a light aircraft gliding through the skies, rhythms of definite direction and minor overtones that add to an after dark feel. Not only does it show a strong rigid sense of feel with its robotic animated steps, it’s layered with subtle percussion that’s gently affected to set off sparks of infectious rays.

“Evil Love” again delivers haunting themes that are based upon strong percussive elements, shaping the track with steady influence. The slight melody is sprinkled over the top, very quaint, and delicate, yet effective in its use of space. Layers build up a more complex picture while gentle chimes add to the shiny textures that are polished and precise and injected into key areas to enhance this articulate work.

A zigzag of thickset textures and high-pitched siren spreads its alert throughout “Jaguar” complete with full-bodied stabs of traditional bass. Movements of sounds set sail on a sea of inquisitive style that’s well paced.

The harsh stabs of electronics and laser pulses that make up “Gas Giants” are complemented by a choir like blend that briefly extends a section before acoustic drums build. With an eastern flavouring that weaves a thread through it’s own percussive forest of gentle flute, it’s almost a new age trinket.

“Saal” has more organic bass lines defined with those earthy plucks before “Kremlin Rules” gives birth to the vibrant metallic tones of a horror story that searches deep and receives inspiration from the dark arts. Shadows are cast upon its vibrant self, crying out to distant heavens, weaving and shaping into a sound akin to gentle voices in the background, although merely an effect of the instrumental intelligence. It pauses for a few moments before the rhythm changes, increasing in pace and pushing forth with full force, gathering more momentum as if containing too much energy, and breaking out its own darkened room – still pursued by its own haunting voice.

Throughout, Tank serves a fine example of roles, meets with many impressionable sounds and personalities, that are embraced with metallic infusions that position themselves around the rhythms and sequences of sheer excellence.

Tank is released on Beaurau B.
