Daniel Thomas & Kevin Sanders :: Transit Timing Variations (Sheepscar Light Industrial)

With some beautiful music of the spheres eventually arising out of drone and whirr, perhaps the spirit of the original Kepler was leaning over their shoulders.

One day last year, this duo leaned out the window to make Transit Timing Observations from Kepler, semi-abstracted urban impressionism with beveled ambient edges. Not stargazing but rather looking out over tarmac and telephone wires, the Kepler in the title wasn’t the world-changing astronomer but rather the name of a series of streets in the Sheepscar section of Leeds where their field recordings were made and lightly manipulated.

Marshalling a light battery of tapes and analogue and digital electronics, a set of variations dubbed “Architectures of Multiple Planet Systems (Parts One and Two)” has just been released by Daniel Thomas’ label, which is only fair, since the original appeared on Sanders’. The three-inch variations retain the neighborhood ambience while putting more of the industrial into Sheepscar, with some beautiful music of the spheres eventually arising out of drone and whirr. Perhaps the spirit of the original Kepler was leaning over their shoulders.

Transit Timing Variations is available on Sheepscar Light Industrial. [Release page]
