Despite its minimalist sound architecture Chrome Fragments is a tremendously imaginative and originally conceived album that will ravish fans of obscure dubstep, and evocative ambient soundscapes from the likes of Architect, Hecq, and Autechre.
Tijs Ham is a sound designer and electronic music producer from the Netherlands. After a first experience in the breakcore/hardcore techno movement he has explored the more experimental / mind-scaping facet of IDM and smooth ambient electronica. Working under the moniker of Tapage enables Tijs Ham to merge several musical influences and to reach his own musical identity. This project has already published several CD albums for now defunct Tympanik Audio. Tijs Ham is a highly productive artist in the world of numerical electronic music subculture. Chrome Fragments is Tijs’s new album available from LoMechanik and offered on cassette-tape and digital format. It is a multifaceted effort—a dynamic symbiosis mixing elements of intelligent dance music, micro-sound and kinetic post-techno ambiences. The whole mood is relatively abstract, punctuated by moving and devouring emotional moments, melodious and soothing atmospheres with hints of downtempo/chill-out terrain. Despite its minimalist sound architecture Chrome Fragments is a tremendously imaginative and originally conceived album that will ravish fans of obscure dubstep, and evocative ambient soundscapes from the likes of Architect, Hecq, and Autechre.
Chrome Fragments is available on LoMechanik.
