SA18 :: Cydweithio (Heol Ddu)

SA18 gather vast drones that at once feel light and airy, but also traverse deeper sonic terrain where the proverbial ebb and flow fits the mood all the way through.

A baffling sonic quest

Christian Griffiths and John Healy formed SA18, a new moniker that presents Cydweithio (English for collaboration) with winding synth ambience and elongated textural tones. Seven tracks spread across vast landscapes, Tycroes and Dolgader, Ammanford to be precise, SA18 gather vast drones that at once feel light and airy, but also traverse deeper sonic terrain where the proverbial ebb and flow fits the mood all the way through.

Each track is sequentially numbered “MC01” through “MC07” (“MC03” and “MC04” are unusually missing in action); these transmissions evolve via spacious echoes, neo-classical forms, and ethereal soundtracks we find absolutely essential. Distant panoramic sound-vistas find us, as if to carefully accent our pathway through life. Darker moments fade away only to make way for crystalized movements, almost invisible, and at once tangible—often at the same time. Quite simply, an overflowing collection that coalesces and confounds our senses, taking us through epic peaks and valleys, guiding our trajectory, as we discover where ambient shapes and contours can really take us. A baffling sonic quest.
