An enchanting weave of minimalist movement, the result in the ideal world of course, being the tracking of one artful leading lady in a full-length feature film. Add to that a delightful Edwardian pastel palette. Buy at Bandcamp, Amazon or iTunes.
Rich Batsford is a classical pianist from Birmingham, England, and has appeared at the likes of The Big Chill Festival, ArtsFest, Drop Beats Not Bombs, as well as Birmingham Cathedral.
His latest album Valentine Court, presents a flowing melodic soundtrack that has been moulded by post-rock and contemporary electronica. It’s an enchanting weave of minimalist movement, the result in the ideal world of course, being the tracking of one artful leading lady in a full-length feature film. Add to that a delightful Edwardian pastel palette.
There are various elements on show here, from the contemplative thinker to the protagonist caught in reverie. With a personality as bright as Amsterdam in full bloom—it’s very easy to feel the joy resonate from such an organic work that creates its very own delicate ambience.
If I had to select one track, “Namaste” demonstrates a structure that is the most deeply textured with building piano lines that mark out heartfelt steps towards its own blissful essence, although all the tracks follow suit—immensely passionate with finely tuned elements of strength.
As a work, it’s never once ceases to be excessively joyous, providing the effect of a purifying flow of freshwater throughout, and as such, it is content in merging to form its very own ambient film score.
Valentine Court is available on Mouflon Music. Buy at Bandcamp, Amazon or iTunes.
