This release is a beautiful piece of IDM, spacious, epic and simply a joy to listen to. It’s a very rich piece that deserves multiple listens.

Spacious, epic and simply a joy to listen to

The latest 7″ Versus series from the ever excellent Móatún 7 Sees the latest artist (Perla) joining the label and making her the 4th to do so. The opening track by Perla (titled “Gára”) starts off with some pads that are reminiscent of Boards of Canada, however, from that point, Perla then delves into a more playful and intelligent style of IDM that sees clever beat programming with lovely little glitch moments that are punctuated with retro nods to the past in the form of glitched and playful melodies that are subtly reminiscent of old game soundtracks. Not too much though, just a hint, and it works in a very engaging way. It’s a very thoughtful piece that develops well.

Futuregrapher, an ever present name these days with a slew of quality releases behind him—and when he’s not making music, he’s running one of the finest labels around at the moment. Each release is the mark of quality. Futuregrapher creates a real sonic palette on “Draugahús” that utilizes the full sonic spectrum to hone his craft. This release is a beautiful piece of IDM, spacious, epic and simply a joy to listen to. It’s a very rich piece that deserves multiple listens.
