Pera Sta Ori returns to his roots with rave, breaks, and jungle soundscapes on the four-track EP, Hix Hax, for To Pikap.
A potent, playful, and densely packed EP
Pera Sta Ori (ΠΕΡΑ ΣΤΑ ΟΡΗ) returns to his roots with rave, breaks, and jungle soundscapes on the four-track EP, Hix Hax, for To Pikap. The molten bass opening and roughened beats of “Ramed Assists” are where Greece-born George Kontogiannidis yields his distinctive and ultra-wide groove. Artists such as Altern 8, N-Joi, and Renegade Soundwave traverse parallel trajectories on “Kit Knoodle,” while vocal elements hover over extremely saturated synth pads and wide rhythms on the title track. Closing with the bass-heavy shuffle of “Herd Of Fluffy Bunnies,” Pera Sta Ori’s ability to rattle old-school heavyweight tracks with new-school methods evaporates sound space. For those waxing nostalgic, Hix Hax is a potent, playful, and densely packed EP with warped techno/breaks and staccato beats easily heading into our favorite releases of 2024.
