Mark Forshaw is building a bit of formidable reputation. The Liverpool man’s release rate is growing, Tabernacle, Mathematics, III Rivers and now a new label are opening their vinyl account with him. Belfast based Computer Controlled Records have drafted in the Phantom Plant Outlaws collaborator to deliver his brand of Acid smeared Techno.

Forshaw sledgehammers from the outset and prisoners are not being taken. Arsenic rains from the sky as the slamming, floor disintegrating, brain boiling “Take Off” opens the asylum. Annihilation is the aim. The blistering “H1 1P” follows. Djak Up Bitch comes to mind, the annals of sweat drenched Techno being opened for this burning fist. The flip is from a quirkier place. “Table Etiquette” marries sweetened chords with rippling claps and fizzing synth lines. Respite arrives with the finale. Drums are still on display but the frenzy is filleted. Dipping chords sink, 303 squawk rising against soaring bars.

This Liverpudlian is a real talent. Everything I’ve heard from him I’ve not just liked, it’s actively impressed me. This latest has continued that upward trend. A four tracker of pure quality.

The Explorer is available on Computer Controlled.
