Enigmatic and scorching electronics
We are left in the darkness. Exodus is a short but fierce two-track release by Lectromagnetique, and the effects are utterly tangible. The three-minute infectious composition “Standby,” which doesn’t hold back, is a wave of industrial electronics and acid-tinged electro that overwhelms us. “Sooqa Put In,” on the other hand, slightly slows down the process. The tune is stabilized by a slow-tempo bass layer, but darker, more erratic rhythms continue throughout. It sounds like Lectromagnetique is summoning the dead to perform these enigmatic and scorching electronics. Given the intimidating artwork, I can’t even begin to anticipate where this story will go. In the liner notes, the artist asks us to “close your eyes and dive into the endless abyss of fear.” Umm, ok then?
