Within this intricately packaged CDR lies quite an interesting piece of electronic music. Deep into the core of its musical aesthetic lies a rustic grade of experimental electronics treading on the darker side of Yunx vs. Gescom styled music.
An EP sized CDR marked with an orange on white sticker labelled as ‘Intricate’ is the subtlety to which the music evolves and moves into. With so many experiments being realized these days with a slew of labels to promote and distribute, it’s good to hear quality electronics from relatively unknown artists creating music that is laced with thick electronic outbursts.
The untitled tracks on here are reminiscent of early styled Autechre along the lines of Tri Repetae, and recent material from labels such as N5MD and/or Toytronic. Pleasant melodies are locked to deep basslines, especially on “Track 6” where the softest bassline rides above an atmospheric rhythm. “Track 5” is a highlight track due to its sheer simplicity, sharp percussion and beautiful melodic rhythms that pass through shades of classical and experimental at the same time. “Track 1” is set on an electrically charged trip through upbeat lo-end, syncopated percussion with a disjointed groove that slides in towards the middle that slightly annoys the ears. Overall, Intricate is definitely what they claim to be. Intricately placed electronics with just the right amount of precision to keep it interesting.
