A rounded vision of the sounds of the silver screen. A singular style isn’t adhered to, instead Diana explores all. Blood stained full moons, rain soaked sidewalks and the sole figure.
KOOAAD Muzik’s second release bears a distant resemblance to its older brother. The first release on Joe Drive’s label, by the founder, has its feet firmly planted in the traditions of electro. This latest addition to the family has left behind the snapping beats but kept some of its sibling’s features.
Filippo Diana’s Nemesi is steeped in the electronic soundtrack tradition. The dance-floor isn’t the hunting ground, instead Diana plumbs the depths of unwritten narratives and darkened alleys for his inspiration. The 12” dawns to a night-sky. Shadows loom from the needle drop with “Neuroscienza” and “Nemesi Theme” stalking. Tracks like “Macchinazione” brood with palpable tension. Metronomic rhythms support knife edge synths. Drums play a greater role in the disco tinted “Sequenza Inseguimento,” the club scene interlude before the final scenes. Coldness and hail descend with the electro frosted “L’Esperimento” before the lonesome streets of “Al Fine.”
Nemesi is a rounded vision of the sounds of the silver screen. A singular style isn’t adhered to, instead Diana explores all. Blood stained full moons, rain soaked sidewalks and the sole figure. An EP brimming with atmospheric music, a record to drawing the curtains to and immerse yourself in.
Nemesi is available on KOOAAD Muzik.
