Perhaps better fit for small gatherings of like-minded individuals in a run-down venue, each of these three tracks are truncated by subterranean beats, rolling bass and intense electrical deformities.
[Release page] This Icelandic duo have been transforming the lowest of bass lines and morphing them into slithering tones for the past decade. Their releases, as sparse as ever, are equal parts rhythm, darkness and slowed velocity. The A-side is a new 10-minute piece while the B-side’s two cuts, each in the six-minute plus range, have been refurbished and were previously unreleased gems. Dusted off by the kind folks at Shipwrec and available as a hardened slab of wax (as well as digital), Lost & Found is a welcomed return to form further establishing Einóma as leaders in low-frequency electronic movements.
One can’t help but wonder how this collective is able to consistently delve into and redesign their signature bass-laden propulsion without becoming tired and repetitious. Their Tvenna EP from 2010 saw the pair delivering a more organic wash of cryptic (yet rhythmic) noise. This time around, each minute is painstakingly poured through a sieve catching only the thickest of fragments for astute ears to ingest. Perhaps better fit for small gatherings of like-minded individuals in a run-down venue, each of these three tracks are truncated by subterranean beats, rolling bass and intense electrical deformities. Given the nature of previous releases, Lost & Found proves that all is not lost in the land of nebulous analog tones.
Lost & Found is out now on Shipwrec. [Release page]
