Somewhere in between the dark and funky grooves of Coldcut and the beautiful place in the country that is Boards of Canada, is a small spot for these three lovely tracks from Eating Flowers (aka Greg Dutcher). A pleasant patchwork of blissful, simple melodies and layers of old-school breaks for percussion, riding atop cleverly sourced and amusing samples forms a very modern take on something like the classic Coldcut/DJ Shadow releases of the mid 90s. The sound and production are far too polished to be anything from that era, but it will definitely put you in that headspace—and you’ll probably wish there were more than three tracks.
