(01.17.03) While many folks out there realize the history of Benjamin Stokes of H-Gun Laboratories fame and the fact that he’s also the curator of such critically acclaimed videos for Meat Beat Manifesto, De La Soul, Public Enemy, and The Orb to name a few, his DHS alias is also recognizable for the techno-anthem “House of God” that he produced back in the early ’90s. As Co-Founder/Co-Owner of TinoCorp Records with Jack Dangers (MBM), Ben has recently returned to his studio (since the Attention Earth People 12″-single) to produce a 15 track full-length packed with the latest in holofonic space sounds, rustic basslines and funky downbeat rhythms.
Attention Earth People is a thorough mix of bass driven space music that combines throbbing beats next to sci-fi vocal samples and robotic tweaks. The title track spins sub-aquatic 4/4 beats next to an infectious “Attention Earth People” sample that punches away at the bassbin’s with relative ease. This can be said for many of the cuts featured on DHS’s latest release for the fledging TinoCorp label including tracks like “I Am Your Control”, and “As High As It Can Go”. Imagine a dream where you’re left in space, just floating in no particular direction while vocal samples and musical oddities pass in front of your eyes. Imagine “Intergalactic Travel” around a dysfunctional planet Earth where your view is inundated with electrical debris, chaos and beauty. This is the Dimensional Holofonic Sound-escape of one Ben Stokes, whose vision on Attention Earth People molds futuristic rhythms next to common day thought processes. Could this be a subliminal message for all Earth people or just a sonic voyage of funky analog sounds that bend and twist for your musical consumption? Either way you look at it, DHS has crafted a well-rounded bass infested sonic journey of perpetual rhythms and attention grabbing tracks all mixed seamlessly on one disc.
Also included on this TinoCorp product is a video for “Attention Earth People” produced by Ben Stokes. Attention Earth People is out now on TinoCorp.
