D82 :: Galaxico EP (Analog Concept)

Listeners can expect to be charmed by clean, lush, and spacey atmospheres complimenting the sounds of electro; raw and warm in sound overall, and well-seasoned in production as if the producer has been doing this for quite some years.

Atmospheres complimenting the sounds of electro

If you’re an electro fan reading this and unfamiliar with Analog Concept Records, I’d recommend checking their catalog. Established just a few years ago by DJ and producer Vova Cherkashin, the label has hosted an abundance of talent including Reedale Rise, Ivna Ji, MSRG, Aquatronics, Zobol, Low Tape, and John Beltran—with an aesthetic built on the sounds of acid and electro that is not afraid to go dark or colorful and soulful in the tracks the label curates. Analog Concept presents a fresh new artist for their latest release; although this mysterious producer has been behind the scenes for sometime. Enter Galaxico, Analog Concept’s 7th vinyl release. Listeners can expect to be charmed by clean, lush, and spacey atmospheres complimenting the sounds of electro; raw and warm in sound overall, and well-seasoned in production as if the producer has been doing this for quite some years.

A1 “Star Dance” initiates the EP in classy fashion with ambient and lucid chord auras flavoring a sharp-snared electro rhythm that oozes with old school Detroit, while the melody rides more on a classic UK wave of personality. Sonic delicacies are to be heard throughout as leftfield arp leads and an emotive bassline travel the groove sensations and stimulate the mind to those times where only the stars are out. It’s a beautiful opening to the EP; it flows perfectly into A2 “Rogers Buck.” The production goes through a cool palette of arpeggios and lush-textured long pads across an intimate rhythm of 808 claps and rimshot layers infused with quite the soulful bassline for a damn good time. It could perhaps be one of the deepest tracks on the EP as it’s easy to get lost in the flavor of its textural ear candy and excellent arrangement.

The B side opens with paradise-like sunny auras and highs of “Galaxico”. It’s a fun and super smooth track, floating rhythmically between the lines of electro and jacking 808 arrangements keen to the early house of Chicago. Likewise, its clap delays and rimshots connect the kinetics and groove elevation while crystalized arpeggios and and vivid neon Roland pad sounds have lively conversation. It’s high on the bliss factor and should be a favorite amongst many listeners, being equally as effective for dancing or having a beautiful reflection at home. A lovely hybrid with fine raw house personality.

Demonstrating fond control of the machines ::

The soul stays in control as we conclude with B2 “Strange People.” Terms like cool, futuristic, retro, and automated cities come to mind when listening to this track. The arrangement and pacing is excellent with silky 808 snares and textured rimshots that marinate like a fine sauce adding such head nodding influence to the rhythm. The pads are clean and healing, almost in a way as if they are presenting a tour of the world we live in—documentary style—as we observe from a machine of robot soul and relaxing funk. There is a fun and dark undertone in the music perhaps eluding to the state of society. In any case, it’s a confident choice and finishes this excellent EP with the listener feeling like they’ve had an experience and not just a listen.

D82 makes a very welcome debut with the title track demonstrating fond control of the machines and emotions in all four tracks as well as a fine statement of atmospheric electro that touches the senses. You can hear sunlight moods, escapes, as well as ominous hues and nocturnal threads in this cohesive EP that is effective for the DJ or the ears of a gifted listener. Galaxico is out soon and is highly recommended for those who seek electronics with a scenic feeling and beautiful ambience in the chords and pads. Analog Concept and D82 get a big check in the win column here with this EP full of machine soul and lucid atmosphere.
