Autophonic :: Bathrobin EP (DUB)

(11.29.00) Autophonic, introduced to most of us through the Nummer Een compilation, delivers a varied 12″ on the Dub label. Within four tracks the spectrum from spacey home listening to electro is covered. Track I is a great introductory track, with a laid-back-yet-moving-forward feeling and a nice stereo spread that would fit in line nicely with other DUB artists. Track II will be recognized from the Nummer Een compilation as “Outnumbered” (Track 8). Track III has a dark feel – not quite disturbing, just dark – complete with industrial sounds and bleak leads. Track IIII [sic] closes this release out with an electro track. Unfortunately the B side (III & IIII) is not the most impressive, and Track II is already on the aforementioned comp, which whittles it down to picking up this release for Track I, which I can’t recommend for the $6.50 (aprox) pricetag. Instead, put that cash towards the Nummer Een compilation if you do not already own it, or hold out for the next DUB release.
