Ambot :: A (Etalabel)

Intelligently broken electronics for both machine and human.

Recorded somewhere between 2007—2009, Paul Ryttel (aka Xlorite) and Piotr Michalowski (aka Nmis) joined forces to create A—released via Etalabel which predominately delivers more esoteric ambient slices. A takes on a crunchy beat-centered formation—eroded melodies pierce through the undergrowth, slowly evolving and ever-changing as crepuscular rhythms echoing Gridlock and Autechre shimmy into earshot—Formless (Hymen, 2003) and Tri Repetae (Warp, 1995), respectively. These half-dozen sonic fractures are carefully displaced, often yielding solemn escapes into time capsules that wisp by unknowingly. Evaporated textures emit a shivering drone as elongated audio stretches ebb in a similar path as Phonem did for Hydro Electric (Morr Music, 2000). Highlights can be viewed clearly on “Alfa Pinen” and the closing “Airo Locui”—gravitating, floating and transmitting a patchy foray of darkened post-industrial slivers. “Ameridium” breaks into simmering, chaotic and clunky noise-driven escapades and doesn’t let up during its eight minutes. Where tangled clusters continue to weave into the subconscious, Ambot creates a soundtrack to worlds which have been previously exposed—only to re-inhabit these spaces via an experimental sojourn. Intelligently broken electronics for both machine and human.

A is available on Etalabel. [Release page]
